May our Bright Knight Rest in Peace | Remembering Adam West

To any Bat fan, the death of Adam West is like a president’s face being wiped from Mt. Rushmore. He’s the great grand dad of pop culture Batmen. But, sadly, knights both dark and bright must one day pass.

In the city of NY on October 6th, 2016 our website had its first ever event coverage at Comic Con. This day was chosen because of a man’s legendary career of more than half a century. We don’t get the classic 60s Pop culture explosion of Batman ’66 without Adam West. The packed-to-the-rafters sold out panel appearance of the caped crusader himself and filmmakers of “Return of the Caped Crusaders.” Doesn’t happen without his appearance. I’ve watched and worshipped his Batman for 25 plus years, Bat marathons on the FX channel when it first came out in the mid nineties. Years before that on syndication elsewhere. This wasn’t a Batman just for nerds. This was a Batman you AND grandma could watch. And then Mom and dad could laugh. The amount of homes Adam West warmed with his “Bright Knight” humor and passion. America’s mythology is a young one but it’s as powerful and far reaching as any in human history. Batman is a god among American heroes and a god among pop culture stood by his Bat performance till his final breath. Adam West embraced the power of his character and how much it means to billions. Including the guy writing this with tears in his eyes, who loves the character so much he has a podcast called “Geek News Bat News.” Saying you will be missed is the biggest Bat understatement in Bat history. You will be forever loved. And needed. That’s more like it. Thank you for being you and for always being Batman whenever we needed you. #ripadamwest #ripbatman #adamwest #adamwestbatman #nycc2016 #returnofthecapedcrusaders #adamwestpanel
